| From hearing so many different people through co-hosting and Skype interviews, we get all kinds of different sounds. That's because we all use different mics, and not all mics are created equal. What kind of microphone do you use? Where did you buy it? How much was it? What would you rate this particular mic? | |

| Mic: Microsoft LiveChat-LX-2000 Place of Purchase: Best Buy Price: $29.99 Description: this is a headset/mic combination. It has an in-line volume control and mute feature. It connects 'behind-the-ears', which is actually quite nice, especially if you have an amazing hair style you do not want to interrupt. Rating: 8/10 - I would recommend it to the average user, but it is certainly not a professional mic. I have had to replace it three times but that has been my fault from running over the cable with chairs and continuous use. | |

| Mic: Precision PC Gaming headset-Logitech Place of Purchase: Best Buy Price: $27.99 Description: A headset mic with a volume control on wire, a mute option, a behind the head connection, over the ear headphones and a 10-foot wire. Rating: 8/10- A pretty good headset considering the price. It's a tiny bit sensitive and prolonged wearing of it causes my ears to start hurting. Then again, I don't think it was meant to be worn for 3+ hours | |

| Mic: PS3 Eye Camera Mic Place of Purchase: Best Buy Price: $40 Description: A camera and mic combination for use with the PS3, but has a USB connection that you can connect to your computer. Rating: 6/10 - Satisfactory, could be better. My voice is clear, but sometimes picks up background. You can also use the camera on your comp with user-created drivers, if you're into that kind of thing. | |

| I own two mics other than the inbuilt macbook mic on that I use on the stream, here are the other two mics.
Professional Mic
Mic: Behringer USB C-1U Mic Place of Purchase: Specialist DJ Store Price: £60/$/ Description: A professional microphone which comes with an attachment so you can put it on a proper stand. Comes with software for mac nad PC but will run as soon as you plug the usb. No hassle with noise at all.. Rating: 8/10 - It is a fairly decent microphone but is a bit on the pricy side and also hard to come by.
Non Professional Mic
Mic: Labitech Desktop Mic Place of Purchase: Maplin Price: £10/$/ Description: A normal desktop mic which comes with a mute button built in. Stands normally without use of sticky pads or clipping it onto the stand Rating: 5.5/10 - Again this is a fairly decent mic, however, like most desktop microphones, it doesn't have good noise reduction and generally picks up any background noise loud enough including PC fans. Other than that, this mic is good for Skype conversations and talking.
Another mic I would recommend is the Trust MC‑1200 Mic.

| Mic: Creative Boom Mic (unknown model number) Place of Purchase: Got it for free with a voice recognition software about 10 years ago, but have seen the exact mic at places like Best Buy before. Price: Free, included with software...seen as low as $5 at Best Buy Description: This is a standard boom mic with a small stand. It's compact, but has a tendency to pick up Ps and Bs with a bit of a rasp. Rating: 8/10 - While it is certainly not a professional quality mic, it is an AMAZING mic for the price and age of the product. I've never had any complaints about the quality of the mic. | |

| Mic: Creative HS390 Headset Place of Purchase: Argos Price: £15 / about $22 Details: They are Here Rating: 9/10 - Overall a pretty good headset, sound and mic qulity is super. The cable is a good length, but the only down side to these is that they can be uncomfortable after an hour or two. All I left to say is that it works with Skype 100% and I'm saying that because the box had a skype sticker on it. | |

| Mic: Cyber Acoustics Computer Speech Recognition Headset Place of Purchase: Walmart Price: $18.97 Description: It's a headset with soft foam earpads and the mic part can be adjusted to virtually any place that you would want it. It gets uncomfortable after a while, though. It also connects behind the ears. Other features include in-line volume control, mic muting, and doesn't pick up background noise as far as I know. Rating: 8/10 | While it certainly isn't the best headset out there, it fits my needs. This Headset > Guitar Hero: World Tour microphone | |

| Mic on a Stick
I have no idea what brand or how much it costs.... I think it came with this computer.
Always picks up Background noises, and yet doesn't pick up other people talking over Skype. | |

| Mic: not sure the name at the moment, but it's an HP Place of Purchase: Walmart Price: $29.99 Description: It's a headset with leather-like earpads, has a mute button, and movable mic. It can be folded up when not in use and adjusts fairly easy to fit your head. Quality: 8/10 I haven't used it in a call yet, but i recorded myself with it and i gotta say, it is VERY clear. I was impressed. There's no background noise whatsoever or static. Downside, i can barely hear myself talk and can't hear anything else besides what's coming through the headphones. Plus it gets very uncomfortable after just a few minutes. all in all, worth the money, though it could be more comfortable | |
