Subject: Dazzle Video Creator Platinum problems, help? (It's all fine now.) Wed Nov 04, 2009 9:51 pm
I can't seem to solve this Rubik's cube of a device. I've been searching for videos and places that give instructions on how to use it, I watched a couple of YouTube tutorials, tried two and failed both times. My problem is that I cannot seem to get any signal, at least that's what Pinnacle Studio has been yelling at me. I even tried inserting the AV cables from my X360 directly to the DVC, still no signal. The only instructions contained inside the package is this tiny quickstart which is nigh useless. Also, despite sounding obvious, I have the DVC plugged into the PC. I have set the capture device to Pinnacle Studio's capture settings to "Dazzle DVC100".
I tried this method, but to no avail (tried this before trying direct insertion).
I also tried this one, which just switches the place of the splitters, so it was probably an exercise in redundancy.
I have a suspicion that I need to do something with the settings in Pinnacle Studio since everything else I do is exactly as instructed.
Any of you have a Dazzle? Wanna gimme some tips?
EDIT: I also tried using one of these SCART IN/OUT things.
When I used that, Pinnacle Studio didn't say anything about lacking a signal, still no image or sound though. I bet I put the SCART in the wrong slot though, I don't think there's any output in my TV.
EDIT EDIT: Actually, I suspect that the capture card itself is broken. I tried using different applications that should work with the DVC, no luck.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: I updated the drivers and now I get sound in Pinnacle Studio, still no video though.
Super EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT Bros.: I changed the TV-standard to NTSC and got video, though black and white. The B&W is apparently due to the PAL 60 Hz setting, which is mandatory for certain games. I fiddled around with AMCap settings (Options -> Video Capture Filter... -> Video Standard = tried Secam D and PAL D so far) and got color. The settings seem to reset every now and then though, so this is quite troublesome.
The EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT Chronicles: I got the filter setting to stay on PAL B and it works quite well, only problems now are that the screen seems to be a little misaligned in the captured video and the audio desyncs from almost anything.
Here's a screencap of what I mean by misalignment. Note the black surrounding the screen on all other sides.
EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT Z: I DID IT! I switched the TV-standard back to PAL, which now shows video. Now if only I can figure out how to eliminate the black borders. I did a test recording and the audio didn't desync, so I hope I somehow got it working.
Test video I made, I still need the black borders gone.
