Never tested Famicom not sure about some things.

I got a Famicom cheap and it has this strange "TURBO" thing sticking out of the top and a wire coming out of the back of the system out of the TV <--> Game slot.

The Turbo thing isn't screwed in so this is what's under it:

The end of the cord is the end you see in the photo.
Any help on informing me of what these 2 anomalies affect would be enjoyed.
